DESCRIPTION OF THIS SKINDIVER 38 AUTOMATIC DIVE WATCH

This 38 mm Skindiver Automatic Even Numerals – Cédric Dodane Special Edition features a matte black dial inspired by historic French tool-watches, combining even numerals, a four-line French dial marking, additional luminous plots, and a distinctive central seconds hand developed with legibility in mind. The dial is finished with warm Old Radium Super-LumiNova® for a vintage-inspired appearance and excellent low-light visibility.

Developed by Wolbrook with the technical and design guidance of Cédric Dodane, this special edition also features a unique engraved caseback, a glass box sapphire crystal, a 316L stainless steel case, 200 m / 20 ATM water resistance, a screw-down crown, and Wolbrook's HexapleX® shock-resistant architecture.

Powered by the reliable Citizen/Miyota 9015 automatic movement with an approximately 42-hour power reserve, this Skindiver is available with a black Tropic rubber strap or a 316L stainless steel beads-of-rice bracelet.

The Skindiver 38 Automatic features a screw-down caseback for enhanced security. The first 857 pieces are equipped with a special limited-edition caseback, their numbering serving as a subtle nod to a significant date in the history that inspired this project.

Individually numbered, these casebacks showcase, alongside the technical markings, a deep enamel-filled engraving of the motto “PER ARDUA EX PROFUNDIS AD ASTRA” — meaning "Through hardships, from the depths to the stars" — accompanied by a depiction of a combat swimmer.

This motto reflects the spirit shared by divers, aviators, explorers, and watchmakers alike: perseverance, resilience, and the constant pursuit of new horizons.

For the first time on a modern Wolbrook Skindiver 38, the dial features a four-line marking entirely written in French.

This deliberate choice pays tribute to a period when many professional watches designed and produced in France proudly displayed their identity down to the smallest detail.

Subtle yet meaningful, this unique dial configuration contributes to the character of the watch while celebrating the rich heritage of 20th-century French watchmaking.

One of the most distinctive elements of this Skindiver is undoubtedly its unique central seconds hand.

Chosen by Cédric Dodane as one of the defining features of the project, it draws inspiration from historic French tool-watches and was designed to make the running seconds easier to identify at a glance.

Its distinctive architecture increases the surface area available for luminous material while helping it stand apart from the hour and minute hands. The resulting succession of dots and dashes naturally evokes the rhythm of Morse communication.

Both functional and instantly recognizable, it gives the watch a unique personality while reinforcing its connection to the world of professional instruments.

With 200 m / 20 ATM water resistance tested and guaranteed, a screw-down crown, and a screw-down caseback, the Skindiver 38 Automatic is ready to accompany you on virtually any aquatic adventure, from surface swimming to scuba diving.

In practical terms, its 200 m water resistance exceeds the requirements of most recreational diving activities, providing the confidence and reliability expected from a modern tool-watch.

ISO 6425 — the international standard defining dive watches — considers 100 m water resistance as the starting point for a true diving watch.

SHOCK RESISTANCE A FATHOM AHEAD

The newly engineered HexapleX® watch case architecture brings enhanced shock-resistance via the use of “3D” rubber shock absorbers strategically placed in the front, back and side of the movement holder.

The movement is subsequently in a “floating” configuration and effectively shielded from big to micro impacts on the watch case.

The result is the most impact resistant and accurate* Skindiver dive watch Wolbrook has ever manufactured.

SCRATCH‑RESISTANT SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL

The Skindiver 38 Automatic watch is equipped with a highly-domed, scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal with anti‑reflective treatment inside.

A grade of 9 on the Mohs-hardness scale (graded 1-10) and a dome shape, means the sapphire crystal of the Skindiver Automatic watch is virtually scratch-proof and very hard. While, the inside anti-reflective coating ensures an unhindered vision at all times.

ASSEMBLED IN FRANCE

Like all Wolbrook watches since the 1960s, the Skindiver 38 Automatic "reduxed" dive watches are carefully assembled by trained professional watchmakers in France, in the outskirt of Besançon.
